Partners: Bernard van Leer Foundation, Grand Challenges Canada
Challenge: Saving Brains, an initiative supported by Grand Challenges Canada, the Bernard van Leer Foundation and a range of partners, supports bold ideas to improve early brain and child development globally. The Saving Brains team engaged Assemblyfor to help them find and tell the story told by over 60 studies on a range of early childhood development topics, including parenting, nutrition and education.
Approach: We began by mapping the audiences that Saving Brains hoped to reach, analyzing the policy environment, and conducting deep analysis of the studies with an eye towards the most compelling themes. We then conducted interviews with leaders at global knowledge networks and engagement platforms to learn more about how they would use the research findings in their communications and advocacy, what messages would most resonate with them, and how Saving Brains could frame and deliver the messages to maximize uptake. Finally, we developed a core set of narratives and tested them with the audience members.
Results: Saving Brains now has deep insights on how its leaders can best frame their research for high-level decision makers within priority policy communities.
